1978 Star Wars Corp. & Random House, Two 44" x 32" Double-Sided Full Color Uncut Book
These two 44" x 32" double sided full color uncut proof sheets are from the earliest edition of the first hard cover Star Wars Storybook. This was years before the concept of an Episode 4 even existed. Published by Random House they include all 53 pages; the entire story, in photo layout style. Each uncut page has its original page number and printer's cross-hair marks indicating the divisions for cutting. Only the photos for the covers were not included because they were processed separately. I had no idea I had these, or where I got them. I only recently found them among my vast horde of effluvia. Because they've been kept rolled since new the colors are spectacular There is no fading, yellowing or discoloration. The corners are intact, but are folded over diagonally on the last 1" or so. There are no other creases or folds. As I understand it the ISBN number and the small sequential series of numbers (4,5,6,7,8,9,0) both shown in last photo indicate that these two sheets were printed as possibly the earliest examples prior to publication. Later 1st editions have a different sequence of numbers, although they're still 1st editions.
